Injury rules United pair out of Scotland squad

Written by Dan King

Matt Ritchie and Grant Hanley have been ruled out of Scotland's game against England next month due to injury.

The Tartan Army face the Three Lions at Hampden Park in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday, 10th June, but the Newcastle pair are both unavailable.

Ritchie - who scored 16 goals in all competitions for the Magpies in 2016/17 - missed the final two games of last season and recently underwent a hernia operation, from which he is still recovering.

Hanley, meanwhile, hasn't played since April's defeat to Ipswich having played through the pain barrier in the second half of the campaign just ended.

Scotland beat Slovenia in their last qualifier, and know that victory against England will maintain their hopes of reaching next summer's World Cup finals.
