In-depth Rafa interview in Sunday's programme

Written by Tom Easterby

For the season’s final issue of United – Newcastle United’s official matchday programme – manager Rafa Benítez sat down for an exclusive interview about the promotion-winning campaign he has overseen in his first year at the club.

United welcome Barnsley to St. James’ Park on Sunday (12pm kick-off) in a game which could yet prove decisive in the race for the Sky Bet Championship title.

And the 28th and final edition of United for the last game of the 2016/17 campaign will also feature a celebratory cover, comprising the striking illustrations of Magpies players – and their manager – which have adorned the front of the matchday programme this term.

Inside, Benítez reflects on this memorable season and opens up about his way of working and the changes he’s made at the club in an in-depth seven-page interview.

Meanwhile, club historian Paul Joannou takes a look back at United’s six previous promotion-winning campaigns, and Geordie broadcaster Pete Graves pens his final column of the season.

Read all of this in Sunday’s issue of United, which which will be available to purchase around St. James’ Park and in the club store at the stadium, priced at just £3.
