Help us to tackle abuse and discrimination
Following recent instances of abusive and discriminatory conduct, fans are reminded to show their support in a positive way to ensure that football is inclusive, safe and enjoyable for all.
Whilst the vast majority of fans support Newcastle United's teams in a welcoming and inclusive way, a small minority of individuals have unfortunately behaved in a discriminatory and/or abusive manner, which goes against club values, Ground Regulations and, on occasions, the law.
The club would like to take this opportunity to remind all supporters that Newcastle United has a zero-tolerance approach towards discrimination and abuse.
The club's CEO, Darren Eales, said: "We are blessed to have so many incredible supporters who are exemplary in representing our club and city. Unfortunately, this season, a small minority of people have let them down by engaging in abhorrent behaviour that we simply will not tolerate.
"This includes our Box Office staff being subjected to abusive behaviour, our players and stewarding staff being racially abused, two incidents of employees being spat at and persistent and vitriolic online abuse. We will take all necessary measures to protect our supporters, players and staff.
"Abusive behaviour of any kind, whether directed at players, coaches, fellow supporters or members of our staff is unacceptable and I know our Newcastle United family will stand together in condemning it, 'United as One'."
The club takes its commitments to the inclusivity of Newcastle United and wider footballing community very seriously.
Where, on investigation, evidence demonstrates that fans have been involved in discriminatory or abusive behaviour, the club will take immediate action in line with its internal procedures and the Premier League Commitment Regarding Abusive and Discriminatory Conduct.
Newcastle United will also continue to work with representatives from official supporter groups, supporter communities and the club's recently launched Fan Advisory Board to make sure policies are robust and fair.
To support the club in eliminating discriminatory and abusive behaviour, whether in person or online, please continue to report any instances that you see or hear as soon as possible.
On a matchday, supporters are asked to report any incidents during the match when possible. Supporters can speak to their nearest steward or text HELP to 60070 followed by seat location and details of the incident to help us to identify those responsible.
On non-matchdays, supporters can report incidents by email to [email protected].
Following any allegations of discriminatory or abusive behaviour, Newcastle United will work together with the relevant authorities to identify perpetrators and will pursue the strongest possible action against those involved.
