Fraser, Krafth and Hendrick receive international call-ups

A trio of Newcastle United players have received international call-ups, with Ryan Fraser, Emil Krafth and Jeff Hendrick all set to be in action for their respective countries over the next fortnight.

Winger Fraser has been named in the Scotland squad for their 2022 World Cup qualifying fixtures against Denmark, Moldova and Austria in the coming weeks.

Steve Clarke’s side travel to Copenhagen to face the Danes on Wednesday, 1st September, before facing Moldova at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Saturday, 4th September and the Austria in Vienna on Tuesday, 7th September.

All three games kick off at 7:45pm BST, with Fraser hoping to add to his tally of 20 caps.

Krafth, meanwhile, will link up with the Sweden squad ahead of their qualifiers against Spain in Solna on Thursday, 2nd September and Greece in Athens on Wednesday, 8th September (both 7:45pm BST).

In between those competitive fixtures, the full back – who has 32 caps to his name – could also be involved in a friendly against Uzbekistan in Solna on Sunday, 5th September (2pm BST).

And midfielder Hendrick has also received a call-up, with the Republic of Ireland facing a trio of qualifiers ahead of next year’s tournament.

Stephen Kenny’s men face a tough trip to Estadio Algarve to face Portugal on Wednesday, 1st September (7:45pm BST), before back-to-back home games at the AVIVA Stadium in Dublin against Azerbaijan on Saturday, 4th September (5pm BST) and Serbia on Tuesday, 7th September (7:45pm BST).

The 29-year-old former Burnley man is the most experienced of the three Magpies players called up so far, having amassed 62 caps for Eire since his debut in February 2013.
