First pre-season friendly announced

Written by Dan King

Newcastle United will face last season's League One play-off final runners-up Bradford City in a pre-season friendly next month.

Rafa Benítez's men will make the trip to the Northern Commercials Stadium at Valley Parade for a 7.30pm kick-off on Wednesday, 26th July.

United haven't faced the Bantams in a competitive fixture since March 2001, when goals from Carl Cort and Clarence Acuna earned the Magpies a 2-2 draw at what was then known as the Bradford & Bingley Stadium.

Newcastle's Alex Gilliead and Haris Vuckic both spent time on loan with Bradford last term.

Ticket details for next month's game will be announced in due course. The date and time of this fixture is subject to final confirmation with the relevant authorities nearer the time.

Newcastle will also announce details of further pre-season friendlies in the UK and in Europe - including a home game on the first weekend of August - over the coming days.
