Fede on the programme cover for Leeds visit
Friday’s issue of UNITED – the Magpies’ official matchday programme – contains an exclusive eight-page interview with Federico Fernández, with copies again available to buy around St. James’ Park prior to the Magpies’ Premier League clash with Leeds.
The centre half takes centre stage for the fifth issue of the campaign and, as well as reflecting on United’s disappointing start to the new season and his status as one of the squad’s more senior players, looks ahead to the visit of a Whites side coached by his Argentine compatriot Marcelo Bielsa.
Elsewhere, Swedish defender Emil Krafth discusses a wide-range of non-footballing topics in The Toon Tombola, including back pain, Cupid’s arrow and Swedish pop icons. Nineties full back John Beresford, meanwhile, is the latest to take part in Q&A Revisited, in which we bring back to light some of the quick-fire interviews undertaken by Magpies stars over the years and then see how many of their answers remain the same in the present day.
Toonament History – the feature in which we investigate United’s links to football’s most prominent major tournaments – continues with a look at Euro ’88, in which no fewer than four former Magpies bosses were involved in some guise.
