Exclusive Matty Longstaff interview in Wednesday's programme

Young Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff takes centre stage in the official matchday programme for the Carabao Cup second round tie against Leicester City on Wednesday night (7:45pm kick-off).

The 19-year-old sat down for an exclusive, eight-page interview with UNITED this week, as he reflects on a memorable summer – in which he bagged his first senior goal in the friendly win over Saint-Étienne at St. James’ Park – and his hopes of making a competitive debut for his boyhood club.

There are also regular columns from head coach Steve Bruce and captain Jamaal Lascelles inside Wednesday’s issue, while former Magpies frontman Michael Bridges – who made his Newcastle debut against Leicester – looks back at his six-month loan spell at the club under Sir Bobby Robson.

Club historian Paul Joannou recalls a little-known story about a boardroom tussle at St. James’ Park during the very early days of the League Cup, and also keeps track of United personalities past and present in his history blog feature.

There's plenty more to enjoy, too - and there are many ways of getting your hands on a copy of each edition of UNITED throughout the season:
