‘Keeper Freddie Woodman dives into The Toon Tombola, sharing his thoughts on the British Royal Family, Star Wars and sea lions, while Toonament History – the brand new feature in which we take a look back at the Magpies’ connections to football’s two biggest major tournaments – continues with a look at the World Cup of 1986, an infamous one for the England stars with United links.
This week’s Guest Column, meanwhile, comes courtesy of Jonny Stewart – a member of the sea shanty supergroup known as The Wellermen. There’s also a tribute to the late Malcolm Dix – the Magpies’ life vice president – with Sir John Hall chatting to UNITED to remember his close friend.
Club Historian Paul Joannou tells us about Bob Moncur’s recent visit to Cumbria to see ex-defensive colleague John McNamee and, in his regular 140 Years of Action piece, looks back at how the club dealt with the outbreak of World War One in 1914.
