Elson ecstatic to reach the next round of Women's FA Cup

Newcastle United Women marched on to the fourth round of the Vitality Women's FA Cup on Sunday, with Georgia Gibson's brace and Kacie Elson's goal guaranteeing a comfortable victory over Chorley Women.
Elson, who scored the Lady Magpies' second goal of the game, revealed how proud she felt to have reached this stage in the competition, where they will face FAWNL Southern Premier Division leaders Ipswich Town Women at home following Monday's draw.
"To have achieved this with a Newcastle badge on is amazing," she said. "It is the furthest the club has been in ten years and personally it is the furthest round I have ever reached."
Becky Langley's side dominated their hosts, starting the brighter of the two teams and establishing a three-goal lead before half time.
Elson said: "The desire we had, and our aggression in our pressing, was amazing all game. I am proud to be part of a team with such a strong identity.
"We played some lovely football and were patient. We came out the better team and I feel very proud with the result."
Against Chorley Women, Elson's cross-cum-shot gave the Lady Magpies a deserved two-goal lead and put them firmly in the driving seat.
Discussing her goal, Elson joked: "If I'm honest, it was a back-post cross. Any goal in the net is a shot on target, so I'm going to claim that I meant it!".
Elson's goal was bookended by a brace from in-form midfielder Georgia Gibson, and she outlined how important Gibson is to the team - and how vital her goals are.
"Georgia Gibson is just amazing to play with," said Elson. "Her goals have played key parts in our campaign, and they give us a boost and confidence to go on and score more.
"Her goal (on Sunday) started our quick turnaround of three goals in the space of 15 minutes and were crucial to us progressing to the next round."
Langley's side resume their league campaign this Sunday when they face Stockport County Ladies at Druid Park.
The victory over Chorley Women was vital for the Lady Magpies, and Elson believes it "sends a message to other teams in the league."
"This result gives us a big boost to our campaign for the league title," she added. "With Chorley being a team who we dropped two points against earlier in the season, it was crucial that we made that right this time.
"We are competing for that title, and we will make it happen. Going into the match against Stockport, we need to keep our momentum and add another win to our tally."
