Deja vu for Magpies after Burnley draw - Diame

Mohamed Diamé admitted Newcastle United were left with a familiar feeling of frustration after a late Burnley equaliser denied the Magpies a valuable victory on Wednesday night.
United were on course for a first home win since October thanks to Jamaal Lascelles’ header, but Sam Vokes’ 85th-minute leveller salvaged a point for the Clarets.
The Magpies could easily have been out of sight by that point. Frontman Joselu missed a first-half penalty and later put another chance wide, while Brazilian Kenedy struck the post on his debut.
Rafa Benítez’s side have now picked up just three points from the last 24 available at St. James’ Park, a record which Diamé acknowledges must be put right as a matter of priority.
“It’s difficult. It’s not the first time this has happened,” he told nufc.co.uk. “We have a lot of frustration. When we are playing at home, we should be doing everything we can to win. This should be our fortress, and we are dropping a lot of points.
“The last home games look similar, and we need to find a solution to win games at home because every team is expecting to win when they play at home. I think the team’s still in a good way – doing the good things, working hard at training, and we are playing the way we want to play. It’s the positive things we need to keep going, and hopefully we can win at Palace.”
The Magpies head to Selhurst Park just a point clear of the Premier League’s bottom three, though they could climb to as high as eleventh with victory.
“It’s a massive game again,” said Diamé. “All of these games are very important. We have seen the table, and the bottom ten is really close, so we need to fight for the three points – we have no choice.
“We just need to keep going. We are actually doing well away, and we know it is an important game.”
