Dúbravka shortlisted for Premier League Save of the Season

Written by Tom Easterby

Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka has been nominated for the Premier League Castrol Save of the Season award.

The Magpies stopper has been shortlisted for his stunning stop to deny Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus from close range during the 4-0 defeat to the champions at St. James' Park in December.

It was a magnificent intervention from the Slovakian, whose rapid reflexes prevented City's Brazilian forward from nodding home Bernardo Silva’s headed centre across the six yard box.

Dúbravka is one of ten top flight goalkeepers nominated for the award, along with Liverpool's Alisson, Arsenal's Bernd Leno, Manchester United's David De Gea and Chelsea's Edouard Mendy.

Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal, Aston Villa's Emi Martinez, Everton's Jordan Pickford and Burnley's Nick Pope are also shortlisted.

United supporters can vote for Dúbravka by clicking here. Voting will close at 3pm BST on Friday, 27th May.
