De Bolle joins Hamilton on loan after signing new Magpies deal

Lucas De Bolle has joined Scottish Championship side Hamilton Academical on a season-long loan - after signing a new two-year contract with Newcastle United.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who made his Newcastle first-team debut during a 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Athletic Club in July, has been rewarded with a new deal following a 2021/22 campaign which saw him named on the bench for four of the Magpies' Premier League fixtures.

Joining United's Academy in 2015, De Bolle progressed through the club's youth ranks and has captained Newcastle's under-21 side on a handful of occasions.

The Edinburgh-born teenager primarily plays as a central midfielder and will be aiming to make his professional debut whilst on loan at New Douglas Park for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign.

De Bolle told nufc.co.uk: "I'm very happy to sign my new deal at a club where I have played for the last six years and the club me and my family have always supported.

"I have always dreamt of playing in the Premier League with Newcastle and this contract is a step in that direction and hopefully in the future I can do that.

"I am very pleased to sign with Hamilton on loan. I feel like I have had a good pre-season and going on loan now will be great for me to gain experience playing in mens' professional football and being around a first-team environment all the time.

"This experience I will get with Hamilton at my age will be important for the rest of my career."

The Accies, managed by former Dundee United and Hibernian midfielder John Rankin, finished sixth in the Scottish second tier last season.
