Dates confirmed for young Magpies' EFL Trophy group games

Newcastle United Under-21s will kick off this season’s EFL Trophy campaign against Macclesfield Town, with dates now confirmed for each of their three games in the group stage.

The Magpies’ youngsters eliminated the Silkmen in the Second Round of the competition last time out, drawing 1-1 at St. James’ Park before winning a tense penalty shootout.

They head to Moss Rose on Tuesday, 3rd September, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

For the third season in a row, United will take on just one League One side in the opening round. This time, it’s Shrewsbury Town, with a trip to the Montgomery Waters Meadow scheduled for Tuesday, 8th October (7.30pm kick-off).

The Magpies round off their Group D fixture list against Port Vale, heading to the Potteries on Tuesday, 12th November for a 7.45pm kick-off. United met the Valiants in the same round of the 2017/18 competition, losing 1-0 at Vale Park.

Ticketing details will be confirmed in due course.
