Date and venue confirmed for FA Youth Cup fifth round

The date and venue for Newcastle United Under-18s' FA Youth Cup fifth round trip to Blackpool has been confirmed.

Peter Ramage's team advanced into the last 16 of the competition following a thrilling 3-2 victory against Colchester United at St. James' Park last month

Their reward is an away tie against the Seasiders, who defeated Cheltenham Town 3-1 away from home in the previous round, with the fifth round encounter to be played at Bloomfield Road on Wednesday, 9th February. Kick-off is set at 7pm (GMT).

The winner of the tie will face an away trip to nine-time champions Chelsea, who have lifted the trophy on seven occasions since 2010, in the quarter-finals.

The Toon teenagers will be aiming to reach back-to-back quarter-finals in the Youth Cup having reached the last-eight stage last term before losing out to eventual winners Aston Villa at St. James' Park.

The young Magpies will be aiming to lift the prestigious trophy for a third time in the club's history after tasting success in 1962 before a side including Geordie midfielder Paul Gascoigne, lifted the cup in 1985.
