Crewe loan switch for Sterry

Written by Rory Mitchinson

Defender Jamie Sterry has joined League Two side Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the season.

There, he will link up with fellow United youngster Dan Barlaser, who made his debut for the Railwaymen against Wycombe Wanderers last week.

Sterry’s only appearance for Newcastle this term came in August’s 3-2 Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest at St. James’ Park. He did, however, play three times for the Magpies’ Under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy.

It is the second time that the 22-year-old defender has headed out loan. Last season, he made 20 appearances during a four-month spell at Coventry City.
