Cottage industry for under-23s

Written by Dan King

Peter Beardsley's under-23s will be looking to build on Monday's 4-1 win when they travel to Fulham on Friday.

That 4-1 victory against Reading last time out was a first league success since August and lifted United up to ninth place in Premier League 2's Division Two.

Fulham, meanwhile, have won their last four and are fifth. United beat the Cottagers in the play-offs last season before losing to West Ham in the final at St. James' Park.

Luke Charman is pushing for a start after coming from the bench to score twice on Monday, while defender Macaulay Gillesphey is likely to play on what is his 22nd birthday.

The match is being played at Fulham's Motspur Park training ground at 2pm (UK time) and will be shown live on the Cottagers' fulhamfctv
