Colchester test for Beardsley's boys

Written by Dan King

Newcastle's under-23s will look to build on last week's 6-3 success against Swansea when they take on Colchester United in the Premier League Cup on Monday night.

United got their group campaign off to a losing start when they were beaten 4-3 at home by Burnley in September, but the victory against the Swans has boosted their chances of reaching the knockout stages.

The U's, meanwhile, are looking for a first win after losing to Burnley in their opening game. They travel to Swansea later in the week.

Tom Heardman scored four times against the Swans on Wednesday and he'll be looking to impress once more.

Kick-off at the Weston Homes Community Stadium is at 7pm (UK time). Admission is £10 for adults, £7 concessions (senior, disabled, forces), £5 for under-18s and £3 for under-14s. Entry for under-11s is free, but they must be accompanied by an adult.
