Cass completes permanent move to Port Vale

Defender Lewis Cass has joined newly-promoted League One side Port Vale on a permanent basis.

The North Shields-born defender, capable of playing as a centre-back or full-back, joined the Valiants on a season-long loan for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign before his spell was cut short in January after tearing ankle ligaments in training.

The 22-year-old, who joined United's Academy from North Shields Juniors at the age of 12, will permanently remain with Darrell Clarke's side, who recently gained promotion from the English fourth tier after defeating Mansfield Town 3-0 in the League Two play-off final.

Cass was named on the Magpies' first-team bench in a 4-0 away win at Fulham on the final day of the 2018/19 Premier League season as well as Newcastle's FA Cup third round draw at Rochdale in January 2020.

Everybody at the club would like to wish Lewis the best of luck for the future.
