Bramall to referee Magpies' Palace clash

Tom Bramall will referee Newcastle United's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace next Wednesday.

Wednesday 24th April
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United
Selhurst Park
Kick-off 8pm BST

United will head to south London looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games on the back of an 11-day rest following their 4-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur, with Bramall's appointment for the match now confirmed.

Bramall has been part of Select Group 1 - the top rank for referees in England - since 2022, having been promoted from the EFL earlier that year for his top flight debut.

The 34-year-old first became an EFL referee ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, before an anterior cruciate ligament injury curtailed his progress the following summer.

Last season, the Sheffield-born official took charge of two fixtures in Japan's J1 League - Gamba Osaka's 2-2 draw with Consadole Sapporo and Urawa Red Diamonds' 3-0 win at Kashiwa Reysol - and this term, he has overseen two games involving Eddie Howe's side, both coming in the Premier League. Bramall refereed the Magpies' 2-0 home win over Burnley in September 2023, and also the 4-4 draw against Luton Town in February, also at St. James' Park.
