Betting odds for Southampton

Saturday's win over Brighton extended Newcastle's run without a defeat to eight matches and it means Eddie Howe's men now boast the joint-longest unbeaten streak in the Premier League.

The stunning resurgence in form since Christmas is now put to the test with three away games in eight days, but the buoyant travelling support can make the trip to the South Coast knowing the Magpies have only lost once at Southampton on their last four visits and they are yet to lose away from home in three matches this year.

The betting rates Newcastle as 13/5 underdogs for another away win on Thursday evening, but with only one defeat in their last nine against the Saints, the visitors may be confident of an upset as they seek to continue their climb up the table.

The recent history between the pair also points to goals. Eleven of the last 14 meetings have featured at least three or more, while both head-to-heads last year produced nine goals between them, including the 2-2 draw at St James' Park earlier this season when Newcastle were denied all three points by a James Ward-Prowse penalty deep into injury time.

Ryan Fraser now has three goal involvements in his last two outings with a pair of assists to go along with his goal against Brighton and the Scot has been boosted to 9/2 from 4/1 by BoyleSports to find the net again, but punters are also showing confidence that Chris Wood's first goal is on the cards following his January move from Burnley.

The big New Zealand striker boasted a match-high four shots on his last road trip at Brentford and also notched a goal and an assist in a visit to St. Mary's last season when still in the claret and blue.

Anyone who fancies him to score at any time and for Newcastle go on to win can now snap up a price boost to 13/2 from 5/1, while he is the most likely visiting player to score the first goal of the game at 15/2.

Newcastle to win and Chris Wood to score - was 5/1... now 13/2!
