August's FUN88 player of the month announced

Mikel Merino is the FUN88 player of the month for August.
The Spanish midfielder has made a superb start to his Newcastle career following his season-long loan move from Borussia Dortmund, and beat off competition from Ciaran Clark and Christian Atsu to win the award.
Thousands of supporters voted and Merino came out on top with 45 per cent of the vote. He will be presented with his trophy ahead of Saturday's game against Stoke City.
One lucky fan will get the chance to hand the prize over to Merino at St. James' Park at the weekend. The winner will be announced via FUN88's social media channels on Thursday afternoon.
The winners of runners-up prizes of tickets to the game will also be announced by FUN88 shortly.
