Newcastle United Women have announced the recent acquisition of all-action midfielder Ellie Dobson.
The former Middlesbrough Women and Brighouse Town Ladies player arrives at the club with a wealth of knowledge and talent, and marked her debut with two goals in Sunday's 4-1 opening day victory at Merseyrail Ladies.
Following her move to Newcastle Women, Dobson shared her hopes of being a "calm" head among a youthful Lady Magpies squad.
She said: "I think we've got a really young squad and I think you need some experience in there, which hopefully I can provide.
"(Sometimes) you need someone to settle it down a bit. You just need to relax on the ball and take it easy, and I think I'm able to calm everyone down a little bit."
Newcastle Women manager Becky Langley reiterated Dobson's notion, citing the midfielder's wisdom as a key asset for the Lady Magpies this season.
She said: "Ellie's got a lot of experience and I've known her for a lot of years now. I've seen the quality that she brings, and game management and her experience (are crucial). She's got a really wise head on her shoulders."
Dobson is also excited to be joining Newcastle with the club moving in an "amazing direction."
"What an amazing time to play for this club," she said. "It's going in such an amazing direction with the backing (from the owners) to help push it forward.
"It's such an exciting time and I'm buzzing to be involved."
The midfielder came off the bench to bag a late brace in the Lady Magpies' 4-1 away win over Merseyrail Ladies and she was thrilled to make an immediate impact for her new side.
"I'm absolutely buzzing (with the two goals)," she said. "I was a bit nervous coming in, but I suppose they were good nerves as I managed to get two. It was a good end to the game as well."
Dobson is now in line to make her home debut at Kingston Park against Stockport County Ladies on Sunday, 28th August (kick-off 2pm BST).
Despite her anticipation for the fixture, the midfielder is unfazed by the prospect of playing in front of thousands of fans.
"I played for Northumbria University in the past and I've played matches there before," she said. "I love it there at Kingston Park.
"It's such a good atmosphere when it's really busy so I'm buzzing for it. I can't wait."
Tickets for the game will be available on the gate, priced at £3 for adults and £1 juniors and concessions. Newcastle United Women season tickets, including all home league and cup games, are priced at £30 for adults and £15 for juniors and concessions, and are available to buy here.
