United picked up another vital three points at Wolves on Saturday to stay top of the Sky Bet Championship table.
Brighton & Hove Albion had leapfrogged them for a couple of hours after a 4-1 win against Burton Albion, but the Magpies responded with a hard-fought win at Molineux.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the all-important goal and afterwards, the players celebrated with 4,200 travelling fans.
