Toon in training: United arrive at Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate

Newcastle United will spend this week training at the multi-million pound Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate campus in the Yorkshire countryside, and the players got straight to work on Monday.

The Magpies visited the state-of-the-art complex last summer and its Sports Village includes top class full-size grass and artificial football pitches, a 25-metre swimming pool, four-lane running track and a modern and spacious fitness suite, as well as smaller-sized football pitches and cricket and rugby fields.

Meanwhile a dedicated Sports Science and Treatment Centre houses equipment ranging from underwater treadmills to cryotherapy cold spa baths, to help with rehabilitation and post-training recovery.

The only thing missing on Monday was some nice weather - it rained throughout the first session - but that didn't stop Steve Bruce's men from getting through some important work. There will be double sessions for most of the week and Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from the first day.
