Toon in training: Spurred on for Sunday

Allan Saint-Maximin was back in training on Friday as Newcastle United prepared for the weekend's Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

The flying Frenchman suffered an ankle injury against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, and missed the 7-0 Carabao Cup win at Morecambe in midweek, but he was fit enough to take part in Friday's session.

Jamal Lewis was also able to train after the eye injury he sustained against the Seagulls, but both players will be assessed further before Steve Bruce makes a decision on whether he includes them in his squad for Sunday.

After Wednesday's impressive cup victory, the likes of Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almirón, Ryan Fraser and Joelinton are pushing hard for a start in North London while Paul Dummett and Fabian Schär are also edging towards full fitness.

Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery on a windy morning on North Tyneside.
