Toon in training: Red alert

Newcastle United play their last home fixture of the season on Saturday, with title-chasing Liverpool the visitors to St. James’ Park (7.45pm kick-off).

Rafa Benítez’s former club will be looking for the win which would keep their hopes of securing a first Premier League trophy alive, just three days on from their 3-0 Champions League semi-final first leg defeat in Barcelona.

But the Spaniard’s Magpies side, who drew 1-1 at Brighton last weekend, boast a strong home record this year, having won six of their last seven games at St. James’ Park.

Benítez is eyeing a pair of victories from his team’s last two outings this term, and was back out on the training pitch with the United squad on Thursday.
