Toon in training: Ready for Rovers

Focus switches to the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, when Blackburn Rovers are the visitors to St. James' Park in a 5.30pm (GMT) kick-off.

At stake is a place in the fourth round and, after Wednesday night's defeat to Manchester United, Rafa Benítez has been boosted by the return of Federico Fernández and Ciaran Clark.

Both players trained on Thursday morning, as did Florian Lejueune, who could make his first team comeback against the Championship club at the weekend. He was named on the bench in midweek just five months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
