Toon in training: Palace preparation

With a place in the Carabao Cup fourth round up for grabs on Wednesday night, Eddie Howe put his Newcastle United players through their paces ahead of the midweek home tie with Crystal Palace.

United welcome the Eagles to St. James' Park (7:45pm kick-off) looking for a victory which would see them take another step closer to Wembley, having booked their third round berth with a 2-1 win at Tranmere Rovers in August.

Howe hinted on Tuesday morning that he was considering making some changes to his line-up for the clash with Patrick Vieira's men, with the likes of Elliot Anderson, Matt Targett and Ryan Fraser all pushing for starts.

And that trio were among the Magpies players who trained at Benton on Tuesday, along with midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who is continuing to work towards a return to full fitness.
