Toon in training: Mersey mission for Magpies

Eddie Howe's men face Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday night (kick-off 8pm GMT), with United keen to get Sunday's defeat at Leicester out of their system.

Newcastle were beaten 4-0 at the King Power Stadium and take on a Reds side who have won each of their last seven matches in all competitions. But the Magpies earned a 1-1 draw in this fixture last season, and they would surely be happy with the same result this time around.

Defender Federico Fernández has suffered a thigh injury but Howe has no other new injury concerns, with Paul Dummett the only other confirmed absentee. Youngsters Elliot Anderson and Joe White featured in Wednesday's training session, with club photographer Serena Taylor bringing nufc.co.uk this gallery.
