Toon in training: Magpies working towards the weekend

United travel to Burnley on Sunday with the aim of building on the performance against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

The Magpies drew 2-2 with José Mourinho's Champions League-chasers and could well have picked up all three points - but Steve Bruce knows that his side need to follow that up with a similar display at Turf Moor.

While he and the players have spent most of the week on the training pitches, there were also gym sessions on Friday morning. Jamaal Lascelles did not take part - he has been ruled out for the weekend and potentially the next few weeks with a foot injury - but Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin are in contention for the weekend and Andy Carroll, Federico Fernández and Ciaran Clark are all pushing to be involved against the Clarets.

Fabian Schär has been back at the training ground this week, too, as he steps up his recovery from the knee injury he suffered against Southampton in early February. Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
