Toon in training: Magpies hard at work in Dubai

With a gap of almost two weeks until their next game, away to Tottenham Hotspur, the Magpies are currently on a warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

Eddie Howe and his players arrived on Friday, having won five and drawn the other of their next six Premier League matches following a similar trip to Saudi Arabia in January.

They will be hoping for a similar impact this time, and are certainly working hard to achieve it at the impressive Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.

Watching proceedings was British athlete, three-time Paralympic gold-medallist and Newcastle fan Stephen Miller MBE, who has been training and competing in Dubai and was invited along to the camp. "It was the first time I'd met him, but I'd heard a lot about him," said head coach Eddie Howe. "We reintroduced him to the group - because I know a lot of the players have met him before - and we had a little chat about his background.

"It was a really nice moment. We try to embrace all of our supporters around the world and it was an opportunity for him to come and watch us train and see what we do. We want to do that more in the future, now that Covid restrictions are lifting, where we integrate ourselves to our supporters, and vice-versa, and really build that team spirit from a wider base."
