Toon in training: Getting set for the Sela Cup

Fresh from their successful stint at the Premier League Summer Series in America, Newcastle United were back on home turf on Tuesday as preparations for this weekend's Sela Cup, presented by VisitMalta, continue.

The Magpies finish their warm-up for the 2023/24 campaign with the inaugural event at St. James' Park where Eddie Howe's side will take on Fiorentina and Villarreal on Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th respectively, and tickets are on sale here.

Having returned to Tyneside on Sunday following their 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in their third and final Stateside clash on Friday, United's first team squad were back at their Benton base on Tuesday as attention turns to this weekend's four-team tournament.

And among those hard at work out on the grass were defender Emil Krafth, as he steps up his recovery from a serious knee injury ahead of the new season, and summer signing Harvey Barnes, who trained for the first time at the Magpies' newly-renovated training centre.

Club photographer Serena Taylor was there to bring nufc.co.uk this gallery.
