Toon in training: Fired up for Forest

Newcastle United kick off their Premier League campaign against newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on Saturday (kick-off 3pm BST), and Eddie Howe's side are looking to carry on where they left off at the end of last term.

The Magpies won their final two games of a strong second half of the season under Howe, beating Arsenal on a memorable night at St. James' Park before signing off with victory at Burnley, and have enjoyed largely positive results and performances in pre-season - including, most recently, home wins against Atalanta and Athletic Bilbao.

But now the real stuff is about to get underway and while Jonjo Shelvey and Kell Watts are on the treatment table, the United head coach has some genuine selection headaches ahead of the weekend, with every player looking to make sure they're on that first team sheet.

Someone who is certain to be in the thick of the action on Saturday is club photographer Serena Taylor, who brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from the Magpies' Benton base.
