Toon in training: Blade runners

Newcastle United travel to Sheffield United on Thursday night, with both sides in good form ahead of the clash at Bramall Lane.

The Blades have been the season's surprise package so far, sitting in seventh place in their first term back in the top flight following promotion in May.

But the Magpies have also been making observers sit up and take notice, with Saturday's 2-2 draw against reigning champions Manchester City their latest impressive result under Steve Bruce - a former Sheffield United player and manager.

DeAndre Yedlin and Andy Carroll both took part in Tuesday's training session, having missed the City game with knocks, while Allan Saint-Maximin also looked to have shrugged off the injury which forced him off in the second half at the weekend.

Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from Newcastle's Benton base.
