Toon in training: Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi visit training ground

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi introduced themselves at Newcastle United's training ground on Monday afternoon.

It has been a whirlwind few days since an investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, acquired the club on Thursday, with Ms. Staveley and Mr. Ghodoussi already meeting staff at St. James' Park on Friday having outlined their plans for United in the hours after the takeover.

They met players, including captain Jamaal Lascelles, Allan Saint-Maximin and Martin Dúbravka, and behind-the-scenes staff before heading out to watch some of the afternoon's training session.

Lascelles was back with the group, along with last season's leading goalscorer Callum Wilson, while Freddie Woodman was also back on the grass having been ruled out for the past two matches with a hip injury and Dúbravka continues to close in on a return to action.

Several players are still away on international duty but with the home fixture against Tottenham less than a week away, preparations are now well under way for Sunday's game at St. James' Park and Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
