Toon in training: Allan back in light training as Magpies prepare for Arsenal

Allan Saint-Maximin returned to light training at Newcastle United's Training Centre on Friday - nearly two months since his last appearance in black and white.

The winger has been suffering from the long-term effects of Covid-19 for the last few weeks and there's no doubt that United have missed the flying Frenchman in the last ten matches. But he was able to step up his return with some running drills and ball work with rehab fitness coach Cristian Fernández, while his team mates prepared for Monday night's Premier League game at Arsenal.

Skipper Jamaal Lascelles took part, too - he has also suffered from the after-effects of Covid-19 and came off at half time on his return at the Emirates Stadium last weekend - while Jamal Lewis is fit again following a knee injury.

Paul Dummett was withdrawn as a precaution in the second half of the midweek defeat to Sheffield United, but he was out on the training pitch on Friday, as was Serena Taylor, who brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
