Toon in Training: All set for City

Newcastle United could make it seven Premier League games unbeaten if they pick up a positive result at Manchester City on Wednesday evening (6pm kick-off).

United drew 2-2 with West Ham at St. James’ Park on Sunday, with Miguel Almirón and then Jonjo Shelvey both netting as Steve Bruce’s men twice came from behind to earn a point.

And both of the Magpies’ goalscorers were back out on the training pitch on Tuesday afternoon as preparations for Newcastle’s second game against City in the space of ten days continued.

With Bruce monitoring the fitness of some of his key players – including Almirón, Allan Saint-Maximin and Andy Carroll – youngsters Jack Young, Tom Allan and Kelland Watts all trained with the first team at Benton.

New signing Mark Gillespie was also in the thick of the action, while Florian Lejeune continued on the comeback trail after picking up an injury just prior to the season’s restart.
