Toon in training: All set for Anfield

Newcastle's unbeaten start to the season will be put to the test at Anfield on Wednesday night, when Eddie Howe's side taking on a Liverpool side fresh from netting nine against AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.

United's players were at the Magpies' training centre on Monday, the day after their draw at Wolves, for a mixture of gym work and preparation on the training pitches.

Among them was new signing Alexander Isak, who was ineligible for Sunday's match at Molineux but is expected to be available to make his debut against Jürgen Klopp's Reds.

Meanwhile, young defender Kell Watts - who made his United bow against Liverpool back in July 2020 - has stepped up his return from a knee injury sustained in pre-season. Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from the Magpies' Benton base.
