Toon in training: A Saturday at St. James'

There was a change of scenery for training on Saturday, as Newcastle United's players were put through their paces at St. James' Park - exactly a week before they entertain Brentford in Eddie Howe's first match in charge.

Howe was appointed on Monday and had spent the last week working with his squad at the club's Benton training ground, but held Saturday's session at the stadium.

With a handful of the team away on international duty, a number of under-23 players were also involved and given an early opportunity to try to impress the new head coach.

And it was another chance for Howe to get his ideas across to the group ahead of what promises to be a big week of preparation ahead of next weekend's game. Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
