Sunday's 8-0 victory in pictures

Eight different players were on the scoresheet as Newcastle United equalled their biggest Premier League win with an 8-0 victory at Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Blades' local rivals Sheffield Wednesday had been the opponents when Sir Bobby Robson masterminded an 8-0 victory in his first home match in charge back in 1999, but while Alan Shearer helped himself to five goals on that occasion, Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, Anthony Gordon, Miguel Almirón, Bruno Guimarães and Alexander Isak were all on target in this sensational success in the steel city.

Ahead of the game, tributes were paid to Sheffield United Women player Maddy Cusack, who also worked for the club as a marketing executive, following her sad passing last week at the age of 27. Amanda Staveley laid a wreath at the Bramall Lane gates while there was a minute's applause for the footballer, who was also remembered on the cover of the matchday programme.

Wilson's goal saw him move above Les Ferdinand into fifth in the club's all-time leading Premier League goalscorers chart, Kieran Trippier claimed three assists and there was a debut for his boyhood club for Lewis Hall to cap what was another memorable afternoon from a Magpies perspective. Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from Bramall Lane.
