Southampton success in pictures

Backed by their 3,300 travelling supporters, Newcastle United picked up three more valuable points at Southampton on Thursday night to make in nine games unbeaten and six wins from their last seven matches.

Eddie Howe's men fell behind in the 25th minute to Stuart Armstrong's close-range finish, but quickly levelled through Chris Wood as the Kiwi met Jonjo Shelvey's perfect ball to score his first goal for the Magpies.

And it got even better in the second half when Bruno Guimarães - making his full Premier League debut - executed an audacious back-heel volley. That proved to be the winner, with a goal-saving stoppage-time block from Joe Willock summing up the spirit and mentality that this Newcastle side now possesses.

The win was no less than the supporters who made the long trip deserved and club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery of images from St. Mary's.
