Fans were back at St. James' Park on Wednesday night - and they were given something to shout about as Newcastle United beat Sheffield United thanks to Joe Willock's sixth goal in six games.
The on-loan midfielder finished off a fine team move on the stroke of half time to give the Magpies a deserved three points and send the supporters - returning to the stadium for the first time since February 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic - home happy.
The atmosphere they generated was spine-tingling and emotional and the players took the opportunity to thank them - and for their backing from afar all season - at the end of the game. Some fans stayed behind to watch the pitchside post-match interviews, too, before man of the moment Willock recorded a video message in front of them.
