Foundation 1892 Cup in pictures

The second annual Foundation 1892 Cup took place at Newcastle United's Academy on Monday.

And heavy rain failed to dampen the spirits of the 128 youngsters from seven local schools from across the region who took part.

Rafa Benítez also braved the weather to watch the children - aged between seven and nine - play a number of small-sided games before the finals for both boys and girls.

Each of the youngsters were provided with new Newcastle United kit, courtesy of PUMA, while Benítez handed out trophies to the winning schools. Cambois Primary School were the boys winners while Walkergate Community School won the girls' tournament.

Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery of images.
