Newcastle United kept their quest for promotion on track with a 1-0 victory over Burton Albion on Wednesday night.
Despite the narrow scoreline, the game will live long in the memory following an incorrect refereeing decision by Keith Stroud that saw Matt Ritchie’s successful first-half penalty ruled out - and a free-kick awarded to the visitors instead.
Amid a ferocious atmosphere at St. James' Park, the Magpies regained their focus and Ritchie found the net once again in the second half, curling home beautifully to send Rafa Benítez’s side back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship.
