Watson's winner seals League Cup fifth round spot (1995/96)

United defender Steve Watson was the hero for the Magpies as Kevin Keegan's Entertainers secured a 1-0 away win against the Reds in November 1995, Newcastle's last victory at Anfield.

Sitting at the summit of the Premier League, Newcastle travelled to Merseyside on the back of an impressive 13-game unbeaten streak in all competitions.

And despite the threatening United attack, which included the likes of Les Ferdinand, Peter Beardsley and David Ginola, it was Watson, the youngest ever player in United's history, who netted the only goal of the tie to seal United's place in the last eight.

Cissé and Colback complete second-half comeback (2015/16)

It was a tale of two halves as Newcastle came from two goals down to earn a hard-fought point against in-form Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Magpies got off to a poor start as Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring after 76 seconds before Adam Lallana doubled the home side's lead before the half-time break.

However, United began strongly after the restart as Newcastle forward Papiss Cissé halved the deficit before Jack Colback's deflected shot flew beyond Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to see Rafa Benítez's side share the spoils.

Lee and Cole continue marvellous debut season (1993/94)

Newcastle claimed a 2-0 away win against Liverpool in April 1994, with United targeting European qualification in their first season back in the top flight after winning the Division One title the previous season.

The Magpies had occupied a top-four spot since the start of the new year and maintained their position of third place with a strong victory against Roy Evans' Liverpool. 

Midfielder Rob Lee opened the scoring after three minutes before Andy Cole doubled the away side's advantage in the second half, scoring his 32nd of 34 Premier League goals.

Kevin Keegan's men sealed their third-place finish with 77 points, securing a UEFA Cup spot.

Speed and Shearer seal late fightback (2002/03)

Newcastle left it late as Sir Bobby Robson's side netted twice in the final ten minutes to rescue an unlikely point in a 2-2 draw.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes, former Magpie Dietmar Hamann opened the scoring before Michael Owen, who would later join Newcastle for a then club record transfer in the summer of 2005, extended the Reds' lead from the penalty spot.

However, a brave triple substitution from Robson, which included the introduction of Craig Bellamy, Laurent Robert and Jermaine Jenas transformed the complexion of the league clash.

Gary Speed pulled one back for the Magpies before Alan Shearer's superb header in the dying stages salvaged a point.

Cabaye's corker for ten-man Newcastle (2012/13)

Newcastle earned their first point in seven outings at Anfield with a 1-1 draw against the Reds, courtesy of Yohan Cabaye's excellent strike in front of the Kop.

Minutes before the conclusion of the first half, Cabaye opened the scoring after controlling Hatem Ben Arfa's lofted cross towards the back post before unleashing a ferocious strike into the far corner from an acute angle.

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez levelled the clash with an impressive finish of his own before the Magpies were reduced to ten men as Fabricio Coloccini was sent off for a foul on the Uruguayan striker.

However, Newcastle held on to avoid an eighth successive away defeat against the Reds with a firm defensive display to frustrate the hosts in Steven Gerrard's 600th Liverpool appearance.
