Ahead of Newcastle United's final Premier League fixture of the 2021/22 season, away at with Burnley on Sunday (kick-off 4pm BST), we take a look at some of the Magpies' most memorable clashes with the Clarets...
United pegged back on New Years' Day (2014/2015)
Newcastle entered 2015 in memorable fashion after being involved in a six-goal thriller at St. James' Park, with the Magpies held to an entertaining 3-3 draw against Burnley.
It had been 33 years since the two sides last met at St. James' Park, with the first three goals all scored by Newcastle-born players, although Steven Taylor's opener was cancelled out by an unfortunate own goal from Paul Dummett.
Jack Colback's excellent long-range strike restored the Magpies' lead before Sean Dyche's men got back on level terms through Danny Ings. Despite Moussa Sissoko giving Newcastle the lead on a third occasion, the home side missed the opportunity of gaining back-to-back home wins after George Boyd's late leveller.
A Fabulous screamer and Sean Longstaff's first Premier League goal (2018/2019)
Fabian Schär's sensational opener and Sean Longstaff's maiden Premier League goal secured the Magpies a 2-0 victory against Burnley at St. James' Park during the 2018/19 season.
Prior to the clash, Burnley were unbeaten in eight matches and had picked up more points in 2019 than title challengers Liverpool.
However, Schär opened the scoring in sensational style with a venomous drive which flew viciously into the net via the post before Longstaff, an Academy graduate with the Magpies, doubled United's advantage with a low strike in front of a delighted Leazes End.
The win was United's fourth in six games and earned a first league double over the Clarets since the 1954/55 campaign.
Maxi magic and Wilson's brace (2020/21)
Allan Saint-Maximin's solo finish and Callum Wilson's first goals at St. James' Park since arriving from AFC Bournemouth secured Newcastle United's first home win of the 2020/21 campaign following a 3-1 victory over Burnley.
The hosts, playing in an empty St. James' Park due to the coronavirus outbreak, led through Saint-Maximin's impressive solo finish, twisting and turning before firing a low strike past Clarets 'keeper Nick Pope, until Ashley Westwood levelled for Dyche's side in the second-half.
Wilson, however, restored United's lead four minutes later after converting Saint-Maximin's low cross before the Coventry-born striker doubled Newcastle's advantage from the penalty spot after Ryan Fraser was fouled by Pope.
Magpies win on Burnley's turf (2018/2019)
Newcastle United picked up their third successive Premier League win with a 2-1 triumph over the Lancashire outfit back in November 2018 - their first victory at Turf Moor since 1975.
The Monday night game was delayed by 30 minutes due to a medical emergency involving referee assessor Eddie Wolstenholme but a bright start from United, courtesy of Ben Mee's own goal and Ciaran Clark's header, gave United a two-goal advantage inside 23 minutes.
Sam Vokes halved the deficit before the break but Newcastle held on for maximum points despite Matt Ritchie's close-range miss and Joselu hitting the post.
Murphy and Maxi complete Burnley brace (2020/21)
Newcastle's recent trip to Turf Moor proved a victorious one as goals from Jacob Murphy and the inspiring Saint-Maximin saw the Magpies come from behind to seal an important 2-1 win.
Trailing at half-time following Matěj Vydra's opener, as well having a penalty appeal rejected despite James Tarkowski's high foot on Longstaff, Saint-Maximin's introduction from the substitutes' bench turned the game on its head.
The Frenchman had been on the pitch for barely two minutes before teeing up Murphy, who rifled the ball into the left-hand corner, before the tricky winger netted a brilliant solo effort, which began inside his own half, to move Steve Bruce's side six points clear of the relegation zone.
