Newcastle United’s Premier League record against Crystal Palace is a largely impressive one. In 13 matches between the two sides, the Magpies have lost just two, drawing three and winning eight.
That record reflects some solid away victories at Selhurst Park, including a 3-0 win under former Eagles boss Alan Pardew just before Christmas in 2013, when a strike from Yohan Cabaye (now a Palace player), a Danny Gabbidon own goal and Hatem Ben Arfa’s penalty sealed the points.
Full back Paul Dummett bagged the winner in a thrilling League Cup tie at Palace, securing a 3-2 win back in September 2014 after current United number nine Dwight Gayle had bagged Palace’s opener.
On that occasion, a brace from Emmanuel Riviere turned the tie on its head before Sulley Kaikai forced the game into extra time, where Dummett’s diving header won it for 10-man Newcastle.
The Magpies’ most recent visit to the ground Palace have occupied since 1925 ended in a 5-1 defeat in November 2015, in which Papiss Cisse scored Newcastle’s goal – but that was Newcastle’s first defeat to Palace in a Premier League fixture since 1998.
