Vurnon Anita has urged his Newcastle United teammates to take their training ground form into matchdays, starting on Sunday at Southampton.
The summer signing from Ajax was part of a Magpies side which recorded a disappointing 1-1 draw with Maritimo on Thursday night, but in doing so still qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa League.
That result followed a pair of home defeats at the hands of West Ham and Swansea, and while Anita knows their recent displays have not been up to scratch the midfielder believes it is just a matter of time before things click into place.
"Maritimo wasn't good because we were ahead and at home especially you must play the game out and win it," Anita told nufc.co.uk.
"The most important thing though is that we are through and that was the happy point of this match. But we wanted to give the fans a victory because we haven't at home for the last three games and we didn't manage that.
"But we must now clear our minds for Sunday because it is a tough game and we must go there, be sharp and be better than against Maritimo,"
"Our form is not a worry because we know what we are capable of, but we must show it on the pitch now.
"In training we show it but on the pitch that is when it is important, and we have to get that right at Southampton.
"We have two away games in a short space of time and we must get points from them."
