Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong have been named in the England squad for two friendlies ahead of the FIFA Under-19s World Cup in Mexico this summer.

The Newcastle United pair - both products of the Little Benton Academy - are both in Aidy Boothroyd's 24-man group for next month's double-header against Mexico.

The Young Lions will be in action on June 4th and June 6th at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento national training centre, just outside Mexico City, as Boothroyd aims to prepare his players for July's finals in Germany.

Goalkeeper Woodman is currently Karl Darlow's understudy and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Crawley earlier this season.

Armstrong, meanwhile, has spent the campaign on loan with Coventry City and scored 20 goals for the Sky Blues in League One.

Both players were part of the Young Lions' squad which won the UEFA European Under-17 Championships in Malta two years ago.

The group will meet up at the end of May before making their way to Central America.
