Newcastle United will face Scottish giants Rangers in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, 6th August (7.45pm kick-off).

The Magpies will travel to Glasgow to take on Ally McCoist's side, who eased to the Scottish Football League Third Division title last season.

United are expected to take a strong squad to Ibrox for the fixture, with the start of the 2013/14 campaign just around the corner for both teams.

McCoist told the Gers' official website: "We have enjoyed a positive pre-season so far and we are all looking forward to our final warm-up match against Newcastle before the league campaign begins.

"Newcastle have a strong squad, packed with international players and they will provide a great test for our players. I am sure both sets of supporters will be keen to fill Ibrox and take in such a high profile game before the serious league business gets underway."
